This division with a total of seventy (70) employees is responsible for the 24 hour delivery of electricity and water to the City of East Point and its customers. The electric division consists of Line Crews, the Trouble Truck, a Systems Controls Section, and Tree Crews. The line crews are responsible for the maintenance of the entire electric system and the construction of new services and infrastructure as the City’s systems grows. The Trouble Truck responds immediately to outage and system trouble reports and works to restore service as quickly as possible. Systems Controls handles traffic signals, the switching of circuits in substations and the remote control and monitoring of all system circuits. The tree crews trim trees and brush that could affect the power lines, remove dead or dying trees and clear the right-of-ways to prevent future problems in what is called a vegetation management program.
