OGO General Services FAQ
Q. What is storm water? A. Storm water is the runoff that comes from parking lots and rooftops and flows into our storm drains, streams and rivers. Since storm water runoff is never treated, everything that it collects as it travels along the storm drain system ends up in our streams, rivers and other water resources. Q. What is “public storm water”? A. “Public storm water” is storm water that is flowing in or from a public street, right-of-way, or drainage easement. Storm water that flows on private property that has not entered a street or drainage easement is termed “private storm water.” City services are generally restricted to accommodating public storm water, while property owners are responsible for private storm water. Q . Whom do I call about water ponding in the street? A. Call the Public Works Department at 404-270-9707 or email Service Request at servicerequest@eastpointcity.org. Q. How do I know if my property is in delineated flood plain? A. Call the Public Works Engineering at 404-270-7104 or email Service Request at servicerequest@eastpointcity.org. Q. Why should I care what goes down the storm drain? Dirt, grass clippings and other waste materials that get flushed into the storm drain system can cause flooding as inlets, storm drains, and channels become clogged. In addition, these materials create unsightly conditions and destroy habitat for fish and other animal life. Grass clippings contribute nitrogen and phosphorus that cause unwanted growth of algae and weeds. Q. Who do I contact about the mud that flows off the neighboring construction site when it rains? Call the Public Works at 404-270-9707 or email Service Request at servicerequest@eastpointcity.org. More FAQs |
